Legislative Issues

January 2024 Update from 1861 Consulting:

2024-

House speaker Dan Hawkins will be busy with many new legislative appointments this session as all 125 seats will be up for reelection in 2025.  Expanding Medicaid remains high on the agenda.  Our 1861 Legislative Consultants will join CATALYST Stragetic Government Affairs.

The 2021 Legislative Sessions with both the House & Senate Chambers opened on January 11, 2021.  


Focus will be on Redistricting or redrawing the House, Senate and Congressional districts based on the Census.


Other important issues will likely be Medicaid expansion, abortion and school finance as well as State Revenue short-falls secondary to Covid-19.


2020 Legislative Actions:

On 2/15/2020 The Senate Enacted: "The Audiology & speech-Language Pathology Interstate Compact".  


The 2020 Legislative Session ended on 05/13/2020 with no additional bills introduced affecting our membership.


Our 1861 Consulting Firm kept us updated from March 2020 - Present on Governor Laura Kelly's announcements for Covid-19 guidelines including wearing of masks, and other mandatory precautions as well at Vaccination information.
